Ashtanga Yoga Winter School

Join the Ashtanga Yoga Winter School 2026, second edition!

I am very excited to be launching the Ashtanga Yoga Winter School - a unique community gathering centred around the practice and philosophy of Ashtanga Yoga.

From January 11th until February 6th join in a memorable yoga experience in magical Morocco.

We will meet in the charming fishing village of Taghazout Bay to inaugurate this special coming together of individuals dedicated to deepening their experience and understanding of yoga in all its aspects.

Together we will not only share in the teachings of yoga but also in the richness of this special place loved for its deliciously warm weather, stunning natural landscapes, delectable cuisine, rich culture and friendly locals.

This ‘School’ is about much more than the practice of posture, although daily practice does form the central core. We will also delve deeply into the philosophy of yoga through chanting, philosophy and mythology as well as explore tools for deeper personal inquiry and development.

Moreover, there will be opportunities to make connections with like minded people, surf, get lost in the souk, enjoy the local cuisine, watch sunsets, etc.

The hope is that this school will provide the space for a coming together as an international community of friends old and new, sharing in that which joins us – the space of yoga both physical, philosophical and as a way of life.

If this sounds like your kind of thing please apply applications opening soon!

Location

This first Winter School edition will be held at Le Studio Taghazout located within Fairmont Taghazout Bay, a short distance from Plage Imourane.

Accommodation

You will be responsible for your own accommodation and food. There are many  options available in the area such as hotels, riads, hostels, and Airbnb. Another great alternative are our friends at World of waves only a short ride away (early booking recommended!) Access to your own transport is recommended in order to best see the sites of the area.

Classes

Classes will begin at 6.30am most days although there may be days when we start earlier. There will be no classes on Saturdays or Moon Days and classes will be ‘Mysore style‘ (which is the traditional method of learning this yoga method).

This year I’m requesting a minimum commitment of two one-week long sessions.

Three times a week following the Mysore class will be a session of chanting, Q&A and discussion. Further activities and get-togethers will also be arranged.

Spaces are limited and are available upon application. All levels of practitioner, from beginner to advanced, are welcome to apply. Once your application is successful it will be secured with a non-refundable deposit of €50 which also acts as a contribution to the administration of the school.

Pricing

Both Summer and Winter School are offered on a donation basis.

My wish is to offer these teachings of yoga to you from my heart free from concerns about meeting some kind of arbitrary monetary value.

In return I request that you give what you truly enjoy giving knowing that your contribution will support me in my work in sharing these yoga teachings and facilitating these kinds of gatherings in the future.

A percentage of whatever contribution you give will go directly to a charitable cause that helps street children in Peru.

I was originally inspired by this talk on the concept of ‘Giftism‘ to work in this way and I have found the same concept echoed in the work of Marshall Rosenburg as seen in this video.
